I've got a web site. Now I've got a forum to propagating my opinions.
This is a quick Excel sheet that I came up with to do some time calculations.
This is covered in Cockpit GPS. Mostly, this really has operational significance when using the OBS mode. For the most part, this only creates a curiosity as to why the GPS course does not match the VOR radial for a route segment.
A quick page that I put together for my sons' school.
This is an advertisement that I enjoyed and had to add some comments to.
This is a quick analysis of the effects of homing.
I read one more article on runway incursions that fails to mention that GPS can help your stay oriented on the ground. This is a quick page showing how it can help.
I have some information on using a PDA for flying as well as flight computer functions for one of my favorite Palm OS applications, APCalc, which is a programmable calculator.
This is basically a collection of the websites from the brochures that I collected at Sun-n-Fun. It is not meant to be a complete discussion of the subject.
This is a quick article I put together to explain large aircraft electrical systems in ordinary terms.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is a very useful tool. However, it fails in its GPS representation -- even FS 2004. Fortunately, there is a third party solution from Reality XP.
This is a technique for using three legs to calculate HEADING and TAS from GPS values of SPEED and TRACK.
This is a circular calculator I developed for descent planning on non-FMS types of jets. This file includes the explanation. Its just a simple circular wheel with an altitude scale on the outside and a rotating inner wheel with a bi-directional mileage scale at 3nm per 1000 ft. There is also a table correlating speed and descent rate. The graphics aren't perfect-- it was somewhat of a kludge to create. Also, it might not be that useful to general aviation pilots.
This is the VNAV Whiz Wheel without the explanation.
If you have a Garmin 400 series or are considering one, you might find this amusing and might find a tip or two. This might also be of use if you are a Flight Simulator fan flying with the Garmin 400 using FSGarmin 430.
